As a teenager I discovered the "creative process" when one nite I played with water colors alone--not in a classroom environment. What came out of the brush totally enthralled me. It was as if I had given some hidden world a voice.

I used the technique for many years to gain access to what was really going on in my subconcious. I often would reserve an evening to paint, buy a bottle of wine, and have a date with myself and my subconscious.

Back in 1993 I discovered pottery.functionality of the pottery is paramount. And if you think about it what does a pot do? It "serves and nourishes". What a pleasant message to continually send to ones subconscious mind as you throw another pot on a wheel. I "serve and nourish" myself.

The creative process should be the priority in our schools. It is a gift that many never discover--at least in this country.
