Hi Have 2 HOTELS about 2 hours from the Pantanal. Just a note
hoping to contact anyone thinking about doing something crazy like
coming down to south America, especially brazil. We live 2 hours from the Pantanal,
30000 square miles of wetland forests cut by 100 fishable rivers. Look up the Pantanal
on your favorite searchengine. If you see something that you like write us and we'll try to help you
out with first hand up to date info. Because of the 55% monetary devaluation that has taken place in
Brazil during the last 8 or 9 weeks, vacationing down here has gotten
cheap, cheap. What cost 2 dollars now costs 95 cents. Great fishing
country, great nature eco area, good warm place to refresh your fluids
and we'd like your company. We have a free for everyone fishing
hole on the banks of the Miranda river (140 acres of rivers front with
lights and water) where you can catch or swim with piranhas, or the local
crocodiles. You can listen to samba in our town every day almost and
eat your head off for 6 dollars a day. Our sites to be reviewed are
http://www.guaicidade.com.br/hotelde the third page is in english, just
touch the American flag. Now the other may have some local pics that
people up there will like htttp://www.guiacidade.com.br/hotel1522. this is the fishing capitol
of the world.I know that you won't believe it, but 30 quilometros to the north there
is a creek called cirola. Cirola is underpants, the old fashioned
kind. With the tie string (kind of like what the Mormons wear till
today when they go on mission. It is about 40 metres across and deep in
parts, the banks are lined with lime stone cliffs. And there is a cat
fish there called jau. They fish for him at night using a parachute
cord, 7 feet long, tie to a metal flexible leader, with a one inch hook
and a bait that looks like an eel. about a palm long. They tie the
cord to a flexible tree branch at 5 pm and set about 12 lines of this
type. Many times next day they run the lines. Hard to believe, 30
minutes from civilization, have seen many fish over 80 lbs. and up to
200 lbs. They cut off their heads, put them in formaldehyde and give the
meat to the locals. this cat fish is hairy. cordially drk
