Brings Artists Together To Showcase Work

Maui, Hawaii (April 11, 1999) -- Visionary Artists Resources Including Other Uniques Services today announced a series of happenings to facilitate the expression of artists desiring to interactively present their work to a live and cyberspace audience in a high-touch, high tech environment. This first of many V.A.R.I.O.U.S. Media Ink Artists Showcase and Networking events on Maui, is designed to entertain and inspire audiences, provide a support system for artists, and demonstrate a "New School for the Next Millennium;" a community communications/synergy center being created in Wailuku at 2024 Main Street. Join us on May 7th at 7pm for our inagural show. Dancing will follow!

All analog and digital artists, photographers, performers and
techno-shamans are invited to bring and present their work (slides, video,
digitally and/or in performance) on a large theatre screen to an audience
encouraged to share impressions, feeling, questions, and information.
Different styles of art are welcome; airbrush art, costume design, fine
art, computer graphics, web design, virtual worlds, etc.. The only
limitation being the stretch of one's imagination. Images and performances
are the catalyst for group interaction. Afterwards people are encouraged to
mingle and get to know one another better. Refreshments will be served.
Live music for dancing follows the Showcase and will be provided by Peter
Rosen and Born of Friendship.

A $15 donation at the door is requested. A $10 discount is offered to
musicians bringing instruments to play in the open jam session/sing-a-long
at 7pm, as well as to artists bringing portfolios, videos, slides or
computer graphic data to project on the BIG SCREEN.

The Showcase starts promptly at 7:45 pm at the Maui Metropolitan Museum
(Creativity Cafe for-a-day), and will be "broadcast" on the Internet.

According to Peter H. Rosen founder of Visionary Artists Resources
Including Other Unique Services -- (V.A.R.I.O.U.S., a 501-c-3 non-profit)
producer of the event along with community volunteers, "City life has a
tendency to alienate people. Visual and other artists, by the nature of
their work, are typically a solitary and introspective group of people.
They spend countless hours alone contemplating Self and the human condition
while perfecting their craft... often at the expense of a normal social
life." V.A.R.I.O.U.S. Media Ink is designed to provide a safe place to
meet and enjoy each others creativity in an informal and supportive
atmosphere where, "Strangers are just friends who haven't yet met. We
invite art lovers to experience all forms of creativity, especially
innovation by those on the cutting edge of art and technology," Rosen adds.

V.A.R.I.O.U.S Media Ink was founded in 1980 to serve the community and
attract energy to build Creativity Cafe; an Artists Resource Center
featuring educational entertainment, digital storytelling technology,
internet access, a computerized resource referral and information
directory, a job bank, synergy/networking areas, a multimedia performance
and broadcast venue, production spaces, and a computerized image storage
and retrieval system to make artists' work available worldwide.
