New CONTEST - One Minute Shift

Deadline March 15th 2008 at midnight.

IF you have one minute to share your thoughts about how to make a positive change in the world and inspire others to do so, what would it be? You might demonstrate a key part of the solution, a change in consciousness or perspective or something that inspires us for the journey.

If you had a single minute to share the single most important message you have with the world, what would it be? And can you make that message entertaining enough to create a shift in others?

The Institute of Noetic Sciences Shift in Action program is offering $1,000 for the best "One Minute Shift" video!

Contest opens January 25, 2008 and closes March 15, 2008.

Create from your own original images, original music, original video and creativity... a one minute video (give or take a few seconds) that inspires, educates, illuminates or just tells a story about how the world is shifting in a positive way.

You may want to watch some of the One Minute Shifts on YouTube created by our Shift in Action team for inspiration and the winning videos from our first contest. You can see all of the One Minute Shifts at:
http://www.youtube.com/groups_videos?name=greatshiftcontest

Grand prize winner and runners up will also receive a Shift in Action membership for one year, email promotion of their video sent to 35,000 people and the selected videos will be showcased on http://www.OneMinuteShift.com

Simply post your One Minute Shift to this group and a panel of judges will select a winner in March!

Submission in this contest is your consent and agreement to have your video showcased on www.oneminuteshift.com as a winner or a runner-up and utilized by IONS in any media in perpetuity. You agree that all of the material in your video is original and not copyrighted by anyone other than yourself unless you have written permission. You retain all ownership to your video.

Once you have uploaded your one-minute video to YouTube.com and it is available for public view then go here to link it to us:
#1 CALL FOR VIDEOS - RealHealth Video

Mental Health Experiences

We are looking for videos about the experience of having a mental health disorder- Bipolar disorder, Depression, Phobias, etc.

These videos would be different from a normal RealHealth story in that we want to focus on the EXPERIENCE of the disorder, rather than what it is, its symptoms, its treatments, etc.

The video would be approx. 1:15 in length and would be the person giving a 1 minute overview of their experience in a specific manner --- Here is what the outline would look like:

1. On camera the subject would say their name, age and condition
2. Then they would talk for about 30 seconds about their experience of living with their condition- how it affects their life, if they have learned to cope with it, etc
3. Subject will talk for about 15-20 seconds about what steps they've taken to cope, how effective those have been and where they are now
4. Subject gives advice (non-medical) to others who might be going through a similar experience
*Video will include B-roll
*Subject will be looking into the camera

Note: You should use the RealHealth Story Pitch form when pitching this idea

Pay Scale = $100

*The Production Time for these videos will be 10 days from the date you receive a green light, rather than 2 weeks.

#2 CALL FOR VIDEOS - RealHealth Questions

Questions About Heart and Vascular Health

Questions about heart health and heart disease- including symptoms, diagnoses and types, about maintaining heart health, about heart surgery, etc. This is a huge and very broad category. Please do your research and submit original and diverse questions. Doing so will increase your chances of receiving a green light.

PAY SCALE: $20/question

#3 CALL FOR VIDEOS - RealHealth Questions

Questions About Birth Control

Questions about choosing birth control, types of birth control, birth control methods, etc. Please don't say Proper names and think outside just "the pill." Again, more creative questions will have a better chance of being approved.

PAY SCALE: $20/question

For RealQuestion pitches you can submit one pitch using the RealQuestions pitch form and upload to the RealQuestions section on the server. A pitch can have as many as 10 questions. REMEMBER - it's one person to one question! This means you can't use the same person if they have asked a RealQuestion before.
Pitch Forms and Production Guide

FOR INFORMATION ON HOW TO PITCH AND MORE click here to read our Production Guide and get the Pitch Form in Microsoft Word. All pitches MUST be submitted as outlined in the Production Guide, using a word-format pitch form and uploaded to the tv360 server. Sorry, but pitches not submitted properly cannot be considered.

PRODUCTION REMINDERS FOR QUESTIONS:

1. We need at least 5 second handles of raw footage to each question (the footage you shoot before and after the subject asks the question).

2. Codecs used when submitting final videos: When using FCP, chose either Animation, DV/DVCPRO or worst case H.264. With all of these the quality should be "best", million + colors (if there is a color option), and the size should be either 720 X 480 (4:3, not 16:9) or 720 X 486 (4:3, not 16:9)

3. NO fades between Questions.

4. NO cuts in questions

5. We will dock $5 off any questions that don't have proper handles and $5 off any appearance releases that are incomplete.

NOTE: Please make sure you have read the updated Production Guide before pitching and producing for this call. You can download the updated guide from the TV360 Website.
V.A.R.I.O.U.S. Media's founder narrated this two minute presentation of Creativity Cafe Concepts against a backdrop of the slides from his 1995 educators panel presentation at the prestigious SIGGRAPH International convention. The video describes how by a simple shift in approach and attitude, communities can harness the power of their creative people for local and global benefit.

People everywhere can make a very big difference, very fast - in the quality of life globally and in many other ways for personal benefit and for local and global neighborhood problem solving via pronoia [http://creativity.net/pronoia.html]. Perhaps Al Gore's film will get the leaders to catch-on how to cease and desist from NOT FIGURING HOW TO SHARE WITHOUT WAR AND GREED. Creativity Cafes is being designed to facilitate this.

Please vote and help my life's work to make the world better for you, me and our families, friends and future leaders. I am commited to doing this. Won't you please vote for my work and help it come to fruition faster!?

Many thanks! Blessings and Peaces to you and yours!
Please check out this year's SIGGRAPH event and consider attending! I will be submitting proposals again this year. Previously, I was honored by having my Educators Panal accepted in 1995 (the slides and my synopsis is posted at: http://blip.tv/file/159125 ) and my Creativity Cafe/KidCast for Peace; Solutions for a Better World weeklong installation was accepted, sponsored and produced in 1998. I love SIGGRAPH, that's why you might like to check it out too, if you are into moving images and multimedia interactive cyber theater and innovations in all fields that you are immersed in every day.
Come to San Diego
Letter From the Conference Chair
The first issue of this year's SIGGRAPHITTI is a major step towards meeting you in San Diego this August. The SIGGRAPH 2007 committee and I are already beginning to discern the general outline of the conference through the incredible submissions that are pouring in daily. It is apparent that 2007 is going to be another exciting and dynamic year for computer graphics and interactive techniques.
All the familiar programs that you expect and enjoy at SIGGRAPH will be back again. In addition, we formed new initiatives to attract more content from the most dynamic parts of the SIGGRAPH universe. These include:

• Featured speakers: To enhance the attendee experience, we are replacing the Keynote Speaker with three Featured Speakers, one for each of the three major constituencies in our community: industry/commerce, art, and research.

• More curated content: We will extend a practice begun in 2006 to augment the peer-reviewed submissions in most of our programs with invited content. For example, Emerging Technologies will present demonstrations of several revolutionary technologies that are just coming to market. In addition, the Panels, Special Sessions, and Guerilla Studio programs will be curated so that SIGGRAPH 2007 is guaranteed to showcase the best work in each field.

• IP Marketplace: This is a new listing service for intellectual property based on feedback from you. For a nominal fee, inventors and owners of patents, software libraries, circuit cores, etc. can list them for sale or license. Potential buyers can peruse the listings and then contact sellers in person at the conference to discuss purchase or licensing. The details of each deal will be decided solely by the buyer and seller.

• FJORG!: An innovative, new contest will be unveiled at SIGGRAPH 2007. FJORG! is a contest of skill, creativity, and endurance. Teams of iron animators will be challenged for 32 hours straight to create an animated sequence of at least 15 seconds in length.

• More co-located workshops and events: The Graphics Hardware Workshop, the Symposium on Computer Animation (SCA), and Sandbox: A Videogame Symposium will be back again. In addition, we welcome for the first time the 5th International Symposium on Non-Photorealistic Animation and Rendering (NPAR) and the Emerging Display Technologies Workshop (EDT).

I encourage you to forward this e-newsletter on to your business associates and colleagues and refer them to receive information about SIGGRAPH 2007 from the SIGGRAPH web site. SIGGRAPH wouldn't be the special conference that it is without the unique community of attendees and volunteers that it attracts. See you in San Diego this summer!
New: SIGGRAPH 2007 IP Marketplace
Connecting Buyers and Sellers
SIGGRAPH is introducing a new offering, Intellectual Property (IP) Marketplace, with the goal of simplifying the complicated process of matching parties for buying and selling of intellectual property as it pertains to the ever-expanding computer craphics (CG) and human-computer-interaction (HCI) industries.

For a nominal matching fee, inventors and owners of such properties can list them for sale or license to the computer graphics community via the SIGGRAPH IP Marketplace. The IP listings will be made available via the SIGGRAPH 2007 conference web site to registered users.

"Our hope is that the SIGGRAPH IP Marketplace will facilitate inventors and entrepreneurs working together to develop new CG/HCI products and services," said Joe Marks, SIGGRAPH 2007 Conference Chair from Walt Disney Feature Animation. "What you see in the IP Marketplace this year may be the basis of products you will see in the SIGGRAPH Exhibition a few years from now."
The IP Marketplace application will be available in Mid-March for patent holders or technology seekers to begin uploading data. Applications will be accepted through 1 June 2007.
Access the SIGGRAPH 2007 IP Marketplace.
Just Launched: FJORG!
Iron Animators Working for 32 Straight Hours
SIGGRAPH announces the launch of a new program, FJORG! (pronounced FORGE), in which three-member teams will be challenged to create a character-driven animated sequence based on a specific theme provided by the judges. The catch - it must all be done in 32 straight hours before a live audience and multiple staged distractions. Winning teams, chosen by an elite panel of judges from throughout the entertainment industry, will earn the coveted title of FJORG! - 2007 Viking Animator.

"Every year SIGGRAPH brings the brightest minds together from throughout the world," says Patricia Beckmann-Wells, FJORG! Chair. "FJORG! is a unique opportunity to watch talented people put together incredible work in a limited timeframe under significant pressure. This is expected to be the most challenging animation contest in the world."

FJORG! applications will be accepted beginning 15 March through 1 May 2007.
Sketches & Posters Unite
Two Programs Become One
SIGGRAPH Sketches are brief, illustrated talks on computer graphics and interactive techniques in art, cinema, advertising, design, science, and engineering. SIGGRAPH Posters are graphic displays of incremental, preliminary, partial, and innovative insights that are important but not fully developed.
In the past, SIGGRAPH conferences have featured separate Sketches and Posters programs, however both have always shared the goal of presenting new, innovative ideas that can be described in a single page. For SIGGRAPH 2007, these two programs will be showcased in a unified program, with one submission process, one deadline, and one jury; only the method of presentation will be different. The deadline to submit Sketches and Posters is 27 April 2007.
Learn more about the new format and complete your Sketches & Posters submission.
Also part of the Sketches & Posters Program, The Student Research Competition is accepting applications until 27 April 2007. The Student Research Competition is open to all ACM student members enrolled in higher learning institutions, in both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Greetings Dear Friend of Art and Technology for a Better World,

Did you know that Al Gore's film Inconvenient Truth is viewable online:

http://www.vsocial.com/video/?d=64323

and that there was a contest for your submissions - that I narrowly was able to submit to, asking for global citizen idea's for making the world better?

I submitted something. Please check it out! I would really like you to view my two minute concept video speaking of Cyber Cafe's becoming New Schools and edutainment centers:

And don't forget to vote for my video. There are some great new resouces coming online every day that enable the average person (or exceptional ones) to share their thoughts with the the world via the Internet. I hope you take advantage and have your say... and stay tuned here to Creativity Cafe's V.A.R.I.O.U.S. Media mailing list. You will be advised of similar resources that enable YOU to use Art and Technology for Humanity. As you may have noticed. I don't mail as regularly as I did 10 years ago. Some of you may not have heard from me in that long! Don't fret. I've been true to my vision of helping to make things better.

You Have a Great Day! Remember, Peace begins with me! I am greatful for your reading my words, participating in my artistic expression (by watching, listening and reading), and keeping up with our rapidly changing times. It would really warm my heart to know you've experienced my creativity. Would you please leave a note when there is a place for comments!? Thanks!

If you haven't visited my personal blog, or my radio station, please let me know you are interested and I will send the links!
Aloha Friend of Art and Technology for Humanity,

I haven't been using this listserve for quite a while. Things are moving fast again so I thought I would keep you informed of the dramatic happenings for social change in our world and the evolution of my ideas, projects and services.

I want to share a personal experience. In 1997 I was invited to speak in Graz Austria as a result of Creativity Cafe being discovered on the Net. While in Europe, Ed Elkin, my traveling companion/consulting synergist and I were invited to visist ZEGG. I had been in touch with the ZEGG director for many months prior to our trip. I was anxious to meet a new cyber friend in person and I will share if you like just how delightful our meeting was. There are photos of our voyage posted on the net too.

Cheers!

Dear friends of ZEGG,

"Synergy - Approaching Collective Wisdom " is the headline for the summer camp
in ZEGG from July 26 - August 5, 2007. Connection relates individuals into
something new, unpredictable, magical!

We warmly welcome all interested guests – new or well-known all the same, to
join a ten-day community experience with

Live Music
Morning- and Evening Meditation
Rain, Sun, Wind
Children`s Camp
Tent Village Life
Performance, Dance
And Joy of Living

ZEGG Summercamp
is a big community event for those who want to integrate personal growth and
an attentive engagement in what concerns the planet. This year the focus of
the camp is “Synergy – Approaching Collective Wisdom”.
In some moments while cooperating in a group of individuals, a magic change
happens. Everyone is aware of it; no-one can explain it in terms of every-day
logic. The people involved stop fighting for their breathing space. Instead a
kind of collective consciousness arises. Its creativity and intelligence is
far more complex than that of the sum of all individuals.

The camp is a field to explore and experience this phenomenon.

You find more detailed information below in this e-mail and actual information
during the next months at www.zegg.de.
Aloha Dear Friend,

Please excuse the next blast from VARIOUS inviting you to join (if you already have).

I didn't set the mailing list settings correctly and crashed the server we are hosted on with 500 emails at once. They took us off the net for a while because of it. (can you see my tail between my legs?)

So my apologies, but I will need to send the invitation out again as only a few got it...to make sure that everyone who's been in touch with us, can have the opportunity to remain in contact with myself and associated allies and members of VARIOUS, working toward manifestation of Creativity Cafe and other V.A.R.I.O.U.S. meanderings. Hey did I mention we were offered a building toward that end in LA the last time I was in town?!!!

Find our more on that in Creativity Cafe's Founders Blog. The link on Creativity Cafe's homepage: http://creativity.net/ .

Below is a heads up on a class on Podcasting coming up soon that you can attend in cyberspace. I pass on the info below from Bob Zwick. He is well connected to some cool tools which we have used - to great success in our KidCast for Peace project.

Please explore Bob's home page and take advantge of his recording studio (free) to record your voice and synchronized web page pushing. You can then have people playback your web page push and audio show with the click of a link on your home page! Neato!! Want to see an example? Write us!

2) Perceptions & Message Desigh by Paul Wohlfeil ( former professional photographer )
Paul Wohlfeil, a former professional photographer and one whose post-graduate work was in message design, shares some ôinsightö and principles regarding how we respond to the world around us. Any message (words, pictures, objects, symbols or signs) may be interpreted differently from what the ôdesignerö intended. Applying some principles of design can improve an individuals quality of communication.
Please RSVP to Paul dhsvr74@dhs.state.il.us for this workshop.

3) Photography with a Creative Touch by Paul Wohlfeil ( former professional photographer )
We are all creative in one way or another by imagination, the way we dress, or decorate our homes. Creative photographs are stories in a two-dimensional single frame. Anyone can develop the application of some common principles of design and improve the ômessageö quality to attract and hold the attention of the viewer. This presentation includes some personal images and analysis of their design. Some suggestions for equipment and use are also included in this presentation by Paul Wohlfiel, former professional photographer.
Please RSVP to Paul dhsvr74@dhs.state.il.us for this workshop.
